200-HR Yoga Teacher Training
Step into your Truth
At Bee Yoga Fusion, our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is a journey into a deeper understanding of yoga beyond just the shapes we make with our bodies.
At the conclusion of the training, you will be prepared to teach yoga, live yoga, and step into your truth as a person and an instructor.
This in-depth training will give you the tools, techniques, and knowledge to safely teach vinyasa and hatha yoga, prenatal yoga, and Yoga Nidra to a broad student base. The training will also guide you through teaching specific populations, including the visually impaired, LGBTQ+, seniors, and prenatal students.
A hybrid YTT training program designed to blend beautifully into your life.
Our comprehensive curriculum far exceeds the new Yoga Alliance standards for 200-hour yoga teachers.
hi, i’m Gretchen
I believe that teaching yoga is a learned art and a gift we give to others.
I am an experienced and qualified yoga instructor, E-RYT 500, Pilates Instructor, and Personal Trainer. I am registered with Yoga Alliance as a Continued Education Provider. I have been practicing yoga since 1999, teaching yoga since 2009, and have taught more than five thousand hours of group classes. My yoga studio, Bee Yoga Fusion, has been located in Historic Greenbelt, Maryland for 15 years. I am known for teaching to a diverse student base and offering creative sequencing and modifications that keep students coming back to classes each week, for years!
Unlike other yoga studios, I don’t push out my 200-hour yoga teacher training every year. Why? Because yoga teacher training means a lot to me, it’s a special time of growth for each individual. I truly value the people who show up for this amazing journey! And I don’t believe that yoga teacher training should be a way for studios to pay their rent. (YTT of course makes money but that isn’t why I offer it.) My focus is to teach people the skill of being a proficient instructor and redirect their lives toward harmony and peace.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS Training
“YTT training with Gretchen at Bee Yoga Fusion was, in a word, transformative. It was thorough in all the normal ways you would imagine: I learned the mechanics of a number of foundational yoga poses, I learned mudras and pranayama, and I learned how to put together a flow. There is no doubt that anyone who takes YTT training with Gretchen will be able to tick all the basic yoga teacher boxes. But it was so much more than that: Gretchen’s training had soul, true soul. The study of the physical practice of yoga opened up into learning about the ethical, moral, and spiritual elements of yoga. Gretchen guided us and held space for us as, in studying yoga in its fullest sense, we discovered ourselves. The training process at Bee Yoga Fusion thus isn’t a clinical, additive process of “learning more poses,” or “learning how to cue.” You learn poses, and you learn how to cue (and, as to the latter, probably better than you’ll learn anywhere else). But so much more than that, Gretchen facilitates this a beautiful process of becoming: she brings you repeatedly to your mat and asks you, encourages you, and gives you tools to find yourself there, to find who you are when all that’s there is you and your breath and your vision of what is possible. If you want to be a yoga teacher, go get trained anywhere. If you want to find your voice, to teach from your heart and your soul, to teach with honesty and integrity, go to Gretchen and Bee Yoga Fusion.” -Naomi Reed
“The YTT 200-hour training at Bee Yoga Fusion was excellent. During this training at Bee Yoga Fusion, I learned more than I had anticipated. Gretchen was well prepared and shared so much of her knowledge selflessly with her students. The entire course was informative, challenging and well organized so that I was able to grow and learn and take what I have learned into the world with confidence.” -Ann Baney
“The Bee Yoga Fusion 200 hour yoga teacher training was extremely well planned, organized, well paced, and informative. The program focused on inclusivity and compassionate teaching and assists to best serve a diverse population of students.” -Heather Jacobson
“A wonderful teacher training experience! Gretchen helped us step-by-step to become yoga teachers, seeing abilities in us we could not see for ourselves. She demonstrated great flexibility as a teacher by pivoting to virtual training during the pandemic shut-down after 3 months in-person training and continuing with a high quality training experience. Throughout the training she often highlighted the importance of keeping our teaching open to all peoples, not excluding anyone. Highly recommended!” -Rob Parry
“This was an amazing experience! The biggest takeaway is the community of new friends and fellow teachers. Gretchen made the transition from real life to virtual during the pandemic as smooth as possible, while still managing to hold space for each of us.” -Robin Russell
“I signed up for YTT training with Gretchen at Bee Yoga Fusion because I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of yoga of what I had learned so far. A welcoming and respectful environment for everyone and yoga being accessible to anyone is among the highest values at BYF and was an essential part of the training. Gretchen created a supportive and safe space where we all found our place to grow beyond what we each expected. It was amazing to see how we each grew in our yoga practice, became more and more confident in teaching, started finding our personal teaching and style passion, and began to blossom into it. I highly recommend Gretchen’s YTT to anyone who wants to grow as a yogi, teacher, or person and is uniquely interested in making a positive difference in their community.” -Barbara Frasl
“Becoming a yoga teacher has been a pipe dream for me for some time. When Gretchen announced that she was holding YTT200 training, I jumped at the chance. The physical practice, spiritual practice, yoga teachings, and interpretation – it was what I expected, but there was so much more. The people in our cohort became a family. We became confident teachers because Gretchen is a great teacher. We worked hard, supported each other, shared our lives, and all grew as human beings. I cannot recommend this course enough!” -Laurie Lemieux
“The Bee Yoga Fusion YTT program was incredibly in-depth and thorough. We covered a lot of material and completed thoughtful assignments to supplement the lessons. There were many opportunities to practice teaching, and we learned how to teach yoga to a broad student base. Gretchen created a warm environment where the students felt comfortable and connected.” -Lynnette Marable

Questions? I have answers!
What Does Hybrid training mean?
I’ve created the training to be more accessible for a broad range of people with various family and living circumstances. For example, years ago when I took my first 200-HR YTT training the only option was in-person at a studio. The training took nine months with long hours spent over many weekends. Managing work schedules, childcare, and transportation was extremely difficult. I believe that type of model of yoga teacher training is what keeps some people from being able to become a yoga teacher. So my training is designed for students to learn at home via videos and group zoom meetings. When we meet in person at the studio our time is spent focused on instilling that knowledge into your body and voice as a new teacher. Private mentoring sessions with me are determined based on each student’s availability and are an invaluable gift that most trainings don’t offer.
What is required to graduate
- Attend all training sessions both in-person and online.
- Attend 3 classes taught by Gretchen, included in your tuition, as a student, in-person or via Zoom. Complete a written assignment (fill in the blank writing prompts) about each class.
- Observe two in-person classes taught by Gretchen and one pre-recorded video.
- Teach one community class at Bee Yoga Fusion.
- Complete a short written or oral exam.
- Complete all assignments, including written observations and lecture quizzes.
Do you offer scholarships or work-Study?
No, I believe my training is priced competitively with other studios in Maryland and DC. Due to the intimate setting of the training, it is not financially feasible to provide discounts.
How many people are in the training?
I like to keep the yoga teacher training class sizes small so that conversations are authentic and people get to know each other. The minimum is four people, and the maximum is 12.
Do you hire from the training?
ABSOLUTELY! If you want to secure a teaching position in the future, I will hire from my YTT cohort first. Of course, training does not guarantee a teaching position, but I prefer to hire within the training program rather than hiring yoga teachers trained at other studios. I have both in-person and virtual only positions available.
Where is the training held?
We will have in-person and Zoom meetings and pre-recorded lectures to watch when convenient for you.
All in-person training hours are held at Bee Yoga Fusion in Historic Greenbelt, Maryland, 111 Centerway. We are on the second floor above the Greenbelt Credit Union.
Are the other required books included in tuition?
The other four books required for the training must be purchased by you separately. These books you will refer to for years and are an excellent start to your yoga library.
